Impacts Of Sea Lamprey On Lake Trout

Reproductive Success >>
Lake trout are struggling with reproductive success due to the sea lamprey. Lake trout mature and reproduce later than most fish species making them a target to the sea lamprey. The sea lampreys attack the lake trout before they have reproduced. The number of lake trout in the Great Lakes is declining because of the attacks and the lake trout are having no success with reproducing. Reproductive success is limited because of the sea lamprey.

This topic is relevant to my life because the Great Lakes are a water and food source for me. If the fish species in the Great Lakes change because of the sea lampreys then the food source will change. The sea lampreys are a new predator that may cause certain fish species to become extinct in those areas and other fish species to adapt. This will change the food source.
